Wow Classic phase two has now been announced, well, we have a rough release window now at least.
In an interview with PCGamer the World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas has announced their intentions to release Wow Classic phase two before the end of the year.
“I think it’s a matter of later this year, I think we can say definitively,” Hazzikostas told me. “Within that timeframe? It’s going to depend on a few factors.”Ion Hazzikostas
New WoW Classic Phase Two Content:
Firstly, there are two new world bosses to defeat coming to phase two:
- Azuregos in Azshara
- Lord Kazzak in the Blasted Lands
So, when you ask for Classic, you get classic’s annoying bits too, such as not having a separate bag for keys, well on phase two thankfully the keyring is coming, meaning keys will go into the keyring not clogging up your bag space.
PVP Honor system:
As you may already know battlegrounds are not coming into the game until phase 3 drops, so for now you will have to make do with gaining honor by whooping people in open world PVP.
By gaining honor you can earn new lofty titles as well as unlocking new powerful PVP gear.
Laying is a system that was used within WoW Classic’s release to help them overcome the large population for the release of Wow Classic.
As players inevitably quit or take a break server population would decline and layers would reduce.
The issue now is that world bosses are being added and there should only ever be one of these up at any time. So if layering is on, there is a chance that we could simply farm these world bosses as there would be more than one up at a time due to layering.
The removal of layering will also help the social side of the game too, as cities will now be back to how I remember them when I first played WoW, social, bustling hubs filled with people showing of their loot and mounts. With layering they had simply become ghost towns.
Thanks to user: Symmetryc for pointing out that the release date for Dire Maul had changed since the time of writing the article.
dire Maul was actually brought back ahead of schedule although it was originally planned to be part of the phase two update.
