With several companions available to you in the game, you’ll want to know how to get Virginia as a companion in Sons Of The Forest fairly quickly, as she proves to be pretty useful.
With Virginia on your side, you’ll soon discover that she can help you to fight and explore. Here’s how to get Virginia as a companion and approach her from day one.
How to Befriend Virginia in Sons Of The Forest

At first, you may struggle to befriend Virginia. Although she’s not hostile, it’s very common for her to run away from you if you try and approach her. And, if you attack her, she won’t return.
Another thing you may notice is that she tends to follow you from afar while you’re exploring, and will often visit your camp/base once you’ve found somewhere to settle. Similarly, if you’re unlucky enough to die in Sons Of The Forest, you’ll wake up in a camp with Virginia nearby.

When Virginia seeks you out, allow her to come toward you. Press G to holster any weapons or items, creating a more inviting environment for her. Don’t worry; she will likely panic and run away the first few times but repeat the same process when she notices you, and she will continue to return.
Every time you see Virginia, holster your weapons/items until she stops running away. You’ll know that she’s warming up to you when she hangs around your base more and she might even surprise you with a few gifts.
Note: Virginia tends to prefer warmer environments, so if you build in a snowy area, she may not approach.
Can You Command Virginia?

While you can’t command Virginia as a companion in Sons Of The Forest as you can with Kelvin, you can give her weapons. When you’ve created a friendly bond with her, you can approach her and interact with her by opening your backpack and handing her a weapon.
In fact, the reason why Virginia makes one of the best companions in Sons Of The Forest is that she can hold multiple weapons, such as a pistol and a shotgun at the same time.
