How to Use Death Rewind in The Quarry

If you’ve played Life is Strange, you may be familiar with the concept of The Quarry’s rewind functionality. The Quarry, like Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures Anthology, requires you to not only uncover the story’s mystery but to save the characters from dying. As is the nature of these games, it’s no spoiler to say that there will be certain events that could lead to a person’s death.

Thankfully, not every death in The Quarry needs to be permanent or ruin your game, thanks to the game’s Death Rewind feature. Rather than restarting the whole game again to get the ending you want, you can simply rewind a death and play it again to choose a different path.

While it might seem like an easy way out, in this game, you get three lives, meaning in a single game, you can initiate Death Rewind a total of three times before you can no longer access it.

What Is Death Rewind?

If you’re unfortunate enough to have a character die in The Quarry, you can rewind their death back to a previous point before they died, allowing you to give it another shot to save them.

But, if you’re familiar with these types of games, you’ll probably know that altering another character’s path can have a knock-on effect on someone else. Some characters’ fate is to die, perhaps later in the game, but this fate may already be locked in from chapter one.

How to Rewind a Death in The Quarry

Death Rewind is only accessible after you finish the game. Once it’s been unlocked, you can enable it via Options in the Accessibility Menu.

Once enabled, if a character dies, you’ll receive a prompt asking you if you want to use your death rewind, which will push the game back to before they died, giving you the chance to save their life and keep them in the game.
