Telltale Games Sheds Majority of Its Workforce

Layoffs have become quite commonplace in the video game industry this year, with companies like Epic Games and Team17 cutting down their staff numbers. In a recent tweet by Jonah Huang (a former Telltale cinematic artist), it became clear that “most of” the Telltale team had been let go in September.

Following Huang’s tweet on Oct. 5, Telltale tweeted its own message, which read, “Due to current market conditions, we regrettably had to let some of our Telltale team go recently. We did not take this action lightly, and our commitment to storytelling and finding new ways to do so remains the same. We are grateful to everyone for their dedication along this journey, and we are working to support everyone impacted. All projects currently in development are still in production, and
we have no further updates at this time.”

There is still no clear indication of how many employees were let go from Telltale Games. The studio originally filed for assignment back in 2018. Back then, a lack of funding meant it was acquired by LCG Entertainment, but it looks like the studio could be struggling again.

Known for its popular game titles like The Walking Dead, Batman: The Telltale Series, and The Wolf Among Us, we wish anyone who has been affected by these layoffs the best of luck in their future careers.
