Over the past few years zombies games, survival, and zombie survival had become all the rage, although it looks like 2021 has changed that up and become the year of city builders, with so many going in and out of early access, throughout the year.
Settlement Survival is one of the latest city builders to go into early access and while it does feature calming, almost cartoon-like graphics, don’t be fooled, it’s a serious survival and resource management game that will push your ability to keep your citizens alive to the limits.

Settlement Survival is due to release in October this year, but for those of you that can’t wait, thankfully there is currently a demo available that you can download right away.
After playing the Settlement Survival demo, I can instantly see that this is one of those games you’re going to have to play a few times before you get the balance right.
Without the correct environment and production chains, settlers won’t reproduce, causing you further issues expanding your city, but even getting it right can have its challenges, as you hit a baby boom, and suddenly your effective resource chains collapse at the crippling weight of your expanding population.
Is the Settlement Survival demo worth playing?
While I didn’t feel like I had learned everything about the game after the tutorial, I would say playing the demo for the tutorial alone is worth it, this will give you a headstart when the game is released later in October.
There are limitations to the demo version of the game, such as a capped population, tech level, and difficulty, but playing the demo will also give you a glimpse of what you can expect in the full release, allowing you to explore the tech tree in its entirety as well as other aspects of the game.
