If you’re a fan of Seinfeld (TV series), you’ll be pleased to know that a Seinfeld horror game has been announced for PS5. Sinfeld Remastered invites you to “join Donathan as he survives the streets after his newly adoptive father abandons him at about 3am in the Big Apple”, according to developers Rare Bird Games.
You’ll be able to explore Jerry’s apartment and Kramer’s, among other locations in an entire city landscape. The trailer suggests players will fight monsters, including the Grim Reaper, helicopters, and explore a post-apocalyptic world.
If you’ve paid close attention to the trailer, you’ll recognize familiar crossovers with the likes of Metal Gear Solid, Frogger, Resident Evil, and Spider-Man.
Inspired by Hideo Kojima’s P.T., Rare Bird Games said it gave them some great ideas, describing Sinfeld Remastered as “”an action horror comedy parody featuring various gameplay styles inspired by Resident Evil, Silent Hills, and P.T.”
Dreams vs Unreal Engine
Originally created in Dreams on the PS4, Sinfeld Chronicles has now shifted to the Unreal Engine and has been renamed Sinfeld Remastered. The Unreal Engine allows for more detailed building tools and will ultimately allow the developers to complete the game in a much shorter timeframe.
While there isn’t a set release date yet, it’s rumoured that Sinfeld Remastered will launch on PS5 and PC in October 2021. We’ll have to see if Rare Bird Games stick to their word, but one thing’s for sure, it’s going to be a hell of a rollercoaster ride!
Why Another Seinfeld Horror Game?
When the original Seinfeld horror game was designed in Dreams, it seemed like it did what was on the tin. You could visit familiar locations and encounter a good jump scare. So why so soon are we seeing another Seinfeld horror game?
Rare Bird Games promised there was something else on the cards, and now we know what they meant. In the trailer Don announces “Kept you waiting, huh?”, with a skin-crawling smirk. It’s hard to know what to expect from this potential nightmare, but we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
