Update 26 October 2021: Amazon Games has released an announcement regarding the server transfer status of New World.
We’ve transferred approximately 150K players since character transfers went live. A small number of those have resulted in characters with an invalid data state that needs to be corrected. We’ve done that for those affected last night, but there are a still some new transfers affected that we see happening. We have paused character transfers and evaluate how we can prevent future occurrences of this problem. When that is resolved we’ll resume the service, with an announcement ahead of time.

How to Start a Server Transfer in New World
To transfer your character in New World to a different server, you’ll need to obtain a Character Transfer Token. The first one is free and is available from the in-game store.
Claiming your token will initiate the transfer, so it’s important to ensure you’re logged into the right character before continuing.
You’ll be given a choice of servers where you can transfer your character. However, the server transfer must take place in the same region, e.g. EU Central, US West, etc.
Before transferring, make sure you’re in a settlement or outpost, retrieve any active sell orders, and leave your company. Be aware that your friends list will be gone when you transfer.
