Until recently Genshin Impact only allowed cross play. However, since the recent update, fans of Genshin Impact can now cross save data between their PC and PSN accounts.
Does Genshin Impact have cross save?
At the moment the game does feature cross save but only for players playing on PSN accounts and PC.
The process behind setting up cross play in Genshin Impact differs depending on if you already have an account or not, for players that already have an account, the process can be a little more complicated and time-consuming.
Genshin Impact PS4 cross save (& PS5)
Thanks to a new update, Genshin Impact players who play on PlayStation and PC can now use a cross save function, allowing them to carry their progress across from one device to another, but there is a downside.
If you play Genshin Impact on your Playstation more than PC, there is some bad news, the new cross save feature will mean losing all the saved data on your PSN account as you will need to have the account unlinked in order to enable cross saving.
How to enable Genshin Impact cross save on exisiting accounts
In order to play with cross save, you will need to contact miHo Yo, and request that they merge your accounts. You will need to wait for them to get back to you, so don’t expect this to be an immediate process.
How to enable cross save on new Genshin Impact accounts
In order to play with cross save you will have to link your account from PC or Mobile with your PSN.
In order to do this, you must be starting afresh and follow the instructions given by miHo Yo. However, if you already have an account tied to your PSN then you must email miHo Yo asking for them to unlink the account tied to your PSN (in turn wiping all existing data) in order to start afresh and to be able to link your PC/Mobile account to your PSN.
Alternatively, you can create a new PSN and link the PC/Mobile account to that. However, before linking, ensure that the region you play on PC/Mobile is the same as the region set on your PSN, otherwise, miHo Yo will not recognize your account and will start your account up as though new in another region.
- Send an email to genshin_cs@mihoyo.com with a subject line of PSN Account Unlink Request
- Go through the link Genshin Impact support sent you and provide the information they ask for to unlink accounts. You’ll have to provide information like your PSN Account ID, the UID of the PSN Genshin Account, Adventure Rank, any purchases made on PSN, 5-Star characters acquired, weapons owned, etc
- It is unknown how long the unlinking process may take, but you can check by reopening Genshin on your PlayStation. When complete simply follow the steps to link to your PC/mobile progress.
