If you’ve been playing Pokemon Go for sometime, you’re probably wondering how to get more Stardust. Stardust is an essential item in Pokemon Go, and is required for levelling up your Pokemon and making them more powerful. But with each level you powerup your Pokemon costing so much stardust, it can be hard to get enough to make much of an impact.
Thankfully there are a few ways you can speed up the process and get more stardust in Pokemon Go, much quicker, letting you power up your Pokemon, so they can win more battles and even take on the bigger raids.

1. Buy Star Pieces From the Shop
Star Pieces give you an additional 50% each time you earn Stardust, making the process much quicker. The only downside to using star pieces is that you need to purchase them from the shop.

Similarly, each Star Piece only increases the stardust you earn by 50% for 30 minutes.
2. Catch Pokemon
By far the easiest way to get Stardust in Pokemon Go is to catch Pokemon. Remember, you’ve gotta catch ’em all! You’ll get the following amount of Stardust when catching Pokemon:
- 100 for a regular Pokemon
- 300 for a second evolution
- 500 for a final evolution
- 600 (bonus) for your first catch of the day
- 1,800 (bonus) for getting a 7-day streak of catching Pokemon

3. Open Gifts
When you open a gift, you’ll get somewhere between 100 and 300 stardust for free. Make as many friends in Pokemon Go as possible, then use a Star Piece before opening your gifts. Do this daily, and you’ll rack up Stardust in Pokemon Go pretty quickly, without putting much effort in at all!
4. Battle Grunts and Leaders
As you travel around, you might notice Team GO Rocket hot air balloons following you, tapping on these will result in you facing either a grunt or a Team GO Rocket leader.
Once you’ve won the battle, not only will you be rewarded with Stardust, but you will also get a chance at capturing one of their Shadow Pokemon, which you can later cleanse, or keep as a shadow Pokemon.
While this method is an easy way to get Stardust in Pokemon Go, it does depend on you finding Team GO Rocket members to be able to battle in the first place.
5. Completing Field Research and Special Tasks
There are plenty of research and special tasks that come up in Pokemon go, many of these will not only reward the player with Stardust upon completion but also other items too.
If you still have some old research tasks that you have yet to complete, you can often rack up a lot of Stardust fairly quickly by completing these and any special event tasks going on at the same time.
6. Hatch Multiple Eggs
If you like walking, then this method might be the best way for you to get Stardust in Pokemon Go, simply add as many eggs into incubators as you can, and get walking.
If you have some spare coins, or don’t mind buying some more coins, you can also speed this method up further by purchasing some more incubators.
How Much Stardust Do You Get Per Hatched Egg?
Depending on the type of egg you incubate, depends on the amount of Stardust you will get once they hatch:
- 2KM egg: 400 – 800
- 5KM Egg: 800 – 1,600
- 7KM Egg: 800 – 1,600
- 10KM Egg: 1,600 – 3,200
- 12KM Egg: 3,200 – 6,400
If you’re able to get your hands on a few super incubators, you can speed up the process by aiming to hatch multiple 10KM and 12KM eggs, without needing to walk the full distance.
