Galarian Slowpoke is the latest new Pokemon to arrive in Pokemon Sword and Shield. If you own the game, you can catch Galarian Slowpoke right now, without the need to purchase the Expansion Pass.

The Slowpoke of the Galar region used to eat the seeds of a certain plant that grew in their habitat. These seeds were in fact Galarica seeds, used to this day as an essential spice for cooking in the Galar region. The Slowpoke in Galar built up particles of this spice in their bodies over several generations, eventually gaining the unique appearance and behavior they are known for today.

How to get Galarian Slowpoke
On January 9 2020, a new update for Pokemon Sword and Shield was released. The news in Pokemon Direct provided us with 20 minutes of the latest Pokemon news.
If you didn’t catch it last Thursday, you can watch the Pokemon Direct news above. Find out more about Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass now.

You’ll need to connect to the internet at least once following the update. Once you’ve done this, head to Wedgehurst Station in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Inside Wedgehurst station you will encounter a new trainer. If you’re playing Pokemon Sword you will meet Klara. If you’re playing Pokemon Shield you will meet Avery.

Following this, you will be able to get a Galarain Slowpoke. You can do so by battling and catching Galarian Slowpoke to add it to your party. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, Galarian Slowpoke is level 12.
Fear not though, it doesn’t matter if you cause it to faint. You won’t actually be able to stop the Slowpoke from blocking the turnstile unless you catch it.
My recommendation here is to use a Quick Ball or Level Ball. Alternatively, if you don’t have these or that doesn’t work, move onto the Turn Ball. A Turn Ball becomes more effective each turn you use it.
