Gears 5 has now been available to players with either the ultimate edition or Game Pass Ultimate since September 5th.
However, the early launch has not been as smooth as the developers, The Coalition would have liked.
The issues have now prompted the game’s developers to take action. They’re providing players who have experienced issues a reward package. This way of apology is to say sorry for putting up with the problems.
As can be expected, there has been the usual outburst of players showing their disapproval of the games bugs. There’s also been a few supporters thanking them for their generosity.
Gears 5 Rewards List
We now live in an age where early access often means purchasing the game at AAA prices. This often follows with waiting two years for a potentially bug free full release.
I applaud any developers / publisher offering beta one month before release in an attempt to actually fix bugs, not just make quick cash.
The reward includes:
- 5 Days of boost (Faster progression)
- 600 Scrap
Although Gears 5 has had a rocky start, the general the reviews coming in are mostly positive. There’s a strong emphasis on the story being a larger driving force in Gears 5.
Gears 5 Current Bugs
The Coalition have been actively applying bug fixes and tweeting about them to keep it’s player base updated. With the official release arriving earlier today, the team were quick to fix many of the reported issues.
Whilst many of the bugs have now been fixed, there are still a few that remain in the full release.
Among the known bugs are:
- Broken chapter progression
- Missing collectibles
- A small minority seem to still be having issues getting online
- Server instability (Disconnects during games)
As with most modern games, it’s fairly normal for even more issues to be discovered once the game has been released. It’s unlikely Gears 5 will be any different.
From my experience of the game so far, I would strongly suggest holding off buying the game for a couple of weeks, if you haven’t bought it already.
