How To Make Forged Steel
To craft Forged Steel, there are several requirements that you’ll need to meet, including something to craft it in, and the required materials. Let’s look at what you’ll need to get started.
Required Items
Before thinking about crafting Forged Steel in 7 Days To Die, you’ll need to make sure that you have:
- 30 Iron
- 15 Clay Soil
Iron

Iron is a common item that you can obtain through mining Iron Ore in 7 Days To Die. You can also obtain Scrap Iron by scrapping certain items in 7DTD as well as breaking down world objects like a lamppost, shelves, etc.
Clay Soil

Clay Soil can be gathered by digging in 7 Days To Die. It is used in crafting recipes like Cobblestone Rocks, Crucible, Forge, and Short Iron Pipe.
Once you’ve gathered enough Iron and Clay Soil, you’ll need to place these in a Forge that has a Crucible. The process takes 15 seconds to craft 1 Forged Steel. As you can imagine, this can take some time. However, before you can start crafting Forged Steel in 7DTD, you’ll need a Forge and Crucible.
How To Craft A Forge

A Forge is used to smelt items into more useful products, like Iron and Forged Steel. You’ll need to obtain the first level in Advanced Engineering before you can craft a Forge in 7 Days to Die.
Now that you have the relevant skill points, you’ll need the following to craft a Forge:
- 50 Small Stone
- 60 Clay Soil
- 10 Leather
- 3 Duct Tape
- 3 Short Iron Pipes
These items are relatively easy to obtain. However, you may struggle to find enough Duct Tape to begin with. I recommend searching through all of the loot you can find, including trash and cardboard boxes. You can also find Duct Tape by looting Zombies.
Where To Find A Crucible In 7 Days To Die

The Crucible is an item that you need to use in a Forge in order to make Forged Steel. You can find a Crucible through scavenging with a lot of persistence, or by crafting it at a Workbench.
You can craft a Crucible once you’ve obtained the Steel Smithing perk, using the following items:
