Pokemon Let’s Go How to get Charmander

When I first played Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu, I wondered how to get Charmander and evolve him to a Charizard as quickly as possible. While there are tons of Pokemon to catch and evolve, Charmander has always been one of my favorites, and no matter which game I play, always the first Pokemon I look to catch and evolve as quickly as possible.

The bad news is you won’t be able to, straight away. Before you can get a Charmander, you will need to collect 50 Pokémon. Of course, being that there are so many Pokemon to catch, fear not, it doesn’t take anywhere near as long as it sounds like it would.

The good news is that these do not need to be unique Pokémon. So before you get to the correct area where you are given Charmander, make sure to collect every Pokémon you see along the way.

Don’t forget, you can send these to the professor for candies that can power up your Pokémon. So catching as many as you can always helps. Remember, you’ve gotta catch ’em all!

Where to Find Charmander in Pokemon Let’s Go

By now, if you followed my advice above, you should have caught a decent number of Pokémon. Your next job is to head on over to Cerulean City, pictured on the map above.

Head north when in Cerulean until you get to a bridge. Fight your way through until you get to the end of the bridge.

Once you reach the end of the bridge, Team Rocket will attempt to recruit you. When this event occurs, you guessed it, another Pokémon battle ensues.

When you’ve beaten the Team Rocket Grunt, just ahead of him, slightly to the left, you will see someone with a Charmander standing next to them. Go speak to him.

He will tell you that he feels he isn’t a good enough trainer for Charmander and offers to give it to you. But first, he checks that you have caught at least 50 Pokémon. If you have, great, but if you haven’t, head over to the field, right of where you found the pair, and go catch some more before returning.

How to evolve Charmander:

Now that you have your Charmander, you are going to want to evolve it. Thankfully, the process is pretty simple and quick,

Evolving to Charmeleon:

To evolve Charmander to a Charmeleon, simply level it up to 16. This can be done by catching Pokémon or by fighting other trainers.

I find catching huge pokémon is the quickest way. You no longer need to battle them, like in previous Pokémon games; on top of that, they net higher XP than normal-sized Pokémon.

Evolving to Charizard:

Using the same tactics as before, level Charmeleon up to level 32, and again, he will evolve, this time into Charizard. Of course, this might take some time, but just keep at it, and before you know it, you’ll be rocking an awesome Charizard by your side.

Charizard also has a mega evolution. Charizard can become Mega Charizard X. You can read more about Mega Charizard X here. Of course, with me being old-school, Pokemon lost me with all these mega and giga evolutions, but if that’s your cup of tea, the option is there.
