Unfortunately Blizzard have cancelled their new StarCraft shooter game. The cancellations means they can focus on Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2.
What would have been the new sci-fi shooter game is now down the pan. The game was due to be set in the popular StarCraft universe. Kotaku likened it to Battlefield, but Blizzard’s focus has shifted.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a StarCraft shooter game development being shelved. Back in 2002, development was underway for StarCraft: Ghost. The game was due to be a console shooter spinoff. Blizzard moved their resources onto World of Warcraft which has obviously been one of the biggest games of its kind. Clearly they know what they’re doing!
Overwatch 2 is rumored to offer new modes to the game. There’s new of a large PvE element to it as well. Although it’s disappointing not to see the new StarCraft game being worked on anymore, Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 are welcome releases.
We eagerly await more news on the release dates and hopefully some teaser trailers for Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 at the next Blizzcon event on Friday 1st November this year.
