Minecraft isn’t particularly the best-looking game out there, in terms of graphics, but did you know with the right choice of Minecraft texture packs, you can get your Minecraft game looking photorealistic. We’ve tested out all the best Minecraft texture packs in HD from Curse Forge, to bring you a list of the best ones.
Before we dive in, here’s an overview of the best HD Minecraft texture packs:
- Faithful HD
- Faithful PBR
- RealismExtreme
- R3D CRAFT
- Genesis
Faithful HD – x512
Faithful HD offers some fantastic Minecraft textures, which to me felt much more natural than a lot of the other Minecraft HD texture packs out there. Many of the resources still looked similar to the base texture packs, just of course at a much higher resolution.
Faithful PBR 2048x
Get your phone at the ready and the emergency services on speed dial. Why? Because your PC might just blow up! But if it doesn’t, this insanely detailed Minecraft HD texture pack will blow your mind.
It’s worth noting that this Minecraft texture pack requires Optifine to get the full benefits of the texture pack working. You will notice there are a lot of people on the download page moaning that it doesn’t work. It does, if it doesn’t work it means you’ve set it up wrong.
Some texture packs with Minecraft might have dependencies, or just need a bit of tweaking to get them working, don’t just give up, keep going and you will get there, and when you do, it’s so worth the effort.
RealismExtreme 512x

The creator of the RealismExtreme 512x Minecraft texture pack recommends it looks best with an RTX graphics card. This photorealistic texture pack turns your blocky Minecraft game into something quite beautiful!
If you’re looking for a realistic Minecraft texture pack, you’ll get the most out of RealismExtreme 512x with max quality settings. Like most texture packs, it’s recommended to have at least 8GB RAM in your PC or laptop to ensure the game continues to run smoothly.
R3D CRAFT 512px

If you’re looking for a less extreme Minecraft texture pack, R3D CRAFT 512px is a great choice. It takes the look and feel of Minecraft and turns it into smoother graphics by using high-quality textures.
Shapes and textures are more realistic, giving your Minecraft game more quality while keeping to the original design and overall feel. With over 708,000 downloads, it’s easy to see why R3D CRAFT 512px is one of the best Minecraft HD texture packs.
Genesis

The Genesis texture pack takes on a sci-fi theme to turn your blocks into futuristic textures. The free pack includes 26 blocks and is one of the only sci-fi based texture packs for Minecraft.
If you enjoy the free version of Genesis, you can upgrade to the 512×512 version and support the creator. It’s not advised to use the Minecraft Genesis texture pack in survival mode as it focuses heavily on aesthetics. If you do decide to go down this route, you’ll experience a hgue performance hit which isn’t worth it.
To enjoy the best experience, you’ll need to use Optifine, SEUS shaders, and PTGI shaders.
Minecraft Windows 10 Texture Packs
If you are playing the Windows 10 version of Minecraft, there are some great texture packs for that too, check out our handy guide to Windows 10 Minecraft textures.
The install process is a little different for the Windows 10 version of the game, which requires you to create a mod folder in your Minecraft’s install directory and place the textures inside the folder.
