Ark Genesis 2 Cementing Paste: Where to Find Beaver Dams

Cementing Paste is one of the most important resources in ARK: Survival Evolved. You’ll need plenty of it for everything from metal structures and the Industrial Forge to Polymer, saddles, and defensive structures such as Auto Turrets.

While there are plenty of ARK maps to choose from, this guide focuses specifically on the best places to find Cementing Paste and Giant Beaver Dams on Genesis: Part 2.

Best Cementing Paste Locations in ARK Genesis 2

Thankfully, getting around Genesis 2 is relatively easy. Players start with access to the Federation Exo Armor, including its Tek-style movement abilities, making it much easier to cover large areas of the map and search both above and below the water.

Many Giant Beaver Dams can spawn underwater, so don’t assume there aren’t any nearby just because you can’t see them from the shoreline. If you spot Castoroides but no dams, it’s worth diving in and checking below the surface.

Coordinates are listed as LAT, LON.

ARK Genesis 2 Castoroides Spawn Locations

Castoroides, ARK’s giant beavers, can be found in several areas across the eastern half of Genesis 2. The main spawn regions are approximately:

• 20.23, 76.49 to 21.92, 78.26
• 40.36, 64.90 to 42.51, 68.59
• 40.08, 71.48 to 42.25, 73.43
• 41.34, 73.66 to 43.33, 75.35
• 54.05, 69.94 to 60.15, 73.60
• 53.59, 78.03 to 58.70, 81.84
• 61.68, 72.92 to 64.44, 76.20

If you’re playing on a heavily populated server, you might need to check several of these areas before finding a dam. Other players may have already cleared them out, and the dams themselves can appear around the areas where wild Castoroides naturally spawn rather than at one exact coordinate.

Best Beaver Dam Locations in Genesis 2

One of the best places to start is the large lake around 41.8, 72.8.

The exact position of a dam can vary, but this area has Castoroides spawns and plenty of water for dams to appear around.

Beaver Dams can be surprisingly easy to miss in Genesis 2. Some will stick out above the water and are fairly obvious once you know what you’re looking for.

Others are completely or partially underwater. If you find a group of Castoroides but can’t see a dam, check the shallower areas before diving farther down.

Another good area to search is the eastern side of the map around 62.3, 75.1.

Rivers are also worth checking. Head toward 58.7, 70.7 and search both the riverbanks and beneath the water.

Just remember that Castoroides are very protective of their homes. You don’t actually need to attack a dam to piss them off. Simply accessing the inventory of a Giant Beaver Dam will make nearby wild Castoroides hostile.

They’re also considerably more dangerous in the water, so have an escape plan before helping yourself to their Cementing Paste.

Once you’ve looted a dam, take everything, including the Wood. If you don’t need the Wood, drop it afterward. Beaver Dams do not refill their inventories, so completely emptying one destroys it and allows another to eventually spawn.

How to Get Cementing Paste Without Beaver Dams

Beaver Dams are one of the easiest ways to grab a decent amount of Cementing Paste quickly, but they aren’t your only option.

You can craft Cementing Paste using 4 Chitin, Keratin, or Shell Fragments and 8 Stone in a Mortar and Pestle.

A Chemistry Bench can also make Cementing Paste using 16 Chitin, Keratin, or Shell Fragments and 32 Stone, producing multiple pieces at once.

A Beelzebufo can produce Cementing Paste by eating insects such as Meganeura and Titanomyrma. This can be useful if you need a renewable source rather than running around looking for Beaver Dams.

Genesis 2 gives you another option too. HLN-A’s Hexagon Exchange sells 25 Cementing Paste for 75 Hexagons.

What Is Cementing Paste Used For?

You’re going to need a lot of it.

Cementing Paste is used in hundreds of crafting recipes, including Metal Structures, the Fabricator, Industrial Forge, Polymer, Vaults, several saddles, Greenhouse Structures, and plenty of other mid- and late-game equipment.

That makes Beaver Dams worth checking whenever you’re passing through one of the Castoroides spawn areas, even if Cementing Paste isn’t the resource you originally set out to collect.
