Ark 2 (ARK: Survival Evolved 2) is the next exciting Ark installment from Studio Wildcard. It’s currently rumoured to be an Xbox Series X/S exclusive, but no doubt before long will launch on PS5 and PC.
There’s currently no specific date for the Ark 2 release, but we expect this to be sometime in 2022. Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed whether Ark 2 will be an early access game or a full launch title.
Hopefully, much like Ark, there will be the option for Steam Workshop mods to allow more creativity and freedom in Ark 2.
If you’ve still not played Ark: Survival Evolved, you should spend a bit of time understanding the concept. Plus, you’ll get to ride around on dinosaurs, and who doesn’t love that? Ark can be played on official and unofficial servers, it’s entirely up to you how you choose to play. Ark 2 Story
Similar to Ark: Survival Evolved, it’s expected that Ark 2 will offer a storyline for players to follow. With the likes of Vin Diesel heading up the actor pool, there’s no doubt going to be an indulgent story ahead of us.
Ark: Survival Evolved presented lore to discover in its multiplayer game. The lore explained the sci-fi nature of the game, though it’s entirely up to players whether they choose to pay attention to this or just enjoy the game.
Given the involvement of Vin Diesel, I suspect he’s going to be sticking around for some time. Although it would be a clever marketing stunt from Studio Wildcard, I honestly think there’s more to come from his character. Vin Diesel’s character is currently known as Santiago.
Santiago appears to have a family and a tribe that he leads. In the trailer above we see his tribe devoured by creatures. It could be that players get to play as his character. Maybe it’s simply that the story is based around him and his history.
What’s The Deal With Vin Diesel?
Vin Diesel is supposedly a big video game fan and has been known to partake in DnD games for many years. While we don’t really know why Vin Diesel has been chosen to be involved in Ark 2, Microsoft claims he’s a big Ark fan.
More than just appearing in Ark 2, Vin Diesel is listed as “President of Creative Convergence”. This suggests he has a lot more involvement.
He understands the game intimately and is providing direct feedback to the development process

Ark: The Animated Series
Announced alongside Ark 2, Ark: The Animated Series will be released in 2022. The TV series has been co-created and produced by Studio Wildcard and Jay Olivia, who you may be familiar with if you’ve seen Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
Working on an Army of Dead anime, the animation studio behind Ark: The Animated Series is Lex + Otis. It’s understood that the composer for Ark, Gareth Coker, will be writing the music for the TV show.
The animated series will feature well-known actors like Vin Diesel (as Santiago). As well as Gerard Butler, David Tennant, Russel Crowe, Elliot Page, and lots more. This is an exciting time for Ark!
Ark: The Animated Series will run 14-30 minute episodes detailing an original story that features characters from Ark 2.
