World of Warcraft has seen a multitude of events, expansions, and community-led projects over the years, but after years of the Running of the Trolls LGBTQ+ event, players are finally getting an official Pride event in World of Warcraft’s upcoming 12.0.5 patch. While the gaming industry has been facing an influx of problems these past few years, including AI debates, massive staff layoffs, and even shortages of physical hardware, it’s nice to see something positive coming from one of the most popular MMOs ever created.
Although the micro-event hasn’t officially been announced yet, dataminers have suggested the event will start on June 27, lasting for 48 hours, and giving players the opportunity to enjoy several colorful rewards, such as:
- Pocket Rainbows
- Rainbow Runners
- Pocket Sand
- Darkspear Dash tabard
- Darkspear Dasher title
- Troll Scroll of Rainbow Roll toy
Of course, until there’s an official announcement, these items could change anytime between now and June 27. As soon as Blizzard releases an official announcement, we should start to get a better picture of what items and events we can expect. The Running of the Trolls event, in which this official event is based, sees players creating low-level trolls and marching in support of LGBTQ+ rights across Azeroth.
You can see the route that has been taken by players who have got involved with the unofficial event over the years on the Running of the Trolls website; however, it’s not known if the official event will follow the same route or add a new take on the event.
